Anna watched the window.
3, 2, 1..
and then right on time, the paper boy arrived. She watched him go up to the door, pu in the mail, and turn around and leave. But this time instead of just leaving, he turned to the window and waved at her. Anna tried to hide the disbelief and happiness on her face and casully waved back. He smiled and beckoned to her.
me? she mouthed
yes you! Is anyone else up on the weekend at 6.30 am? he mouthed back.
She ran to the door and grabbed her bag.
"heya." he said
"Hey" she said shyly. "Why'd you ask me to come out?"
"I've seen you up at 6.30 am watching me every day, so I thought maybe if you had nothing better to do we could go out.....for a walk" he added quickly. She smiled
"Yeah that sounds nice. But don't you have to deliver papers?"
"Na I always leave this house till last. So do you wanna go to the beach?"
"Yeah cool." She smiled. Maybe she did have some good luck.

6.30
Emma wandered down to the beach. There was nothing to do at teh hotel and she wanted some alone time here before Irwin came down.
and the others she reminded herself quickly embarresed about only thinking of Irwin. She sat down on the sand and looked out to the sea. The sun was already up. She looked up at the sky and thought about Irwin. She knew she had left for the right reasons, but she still missed Irwin so much. She at least wished she could have taken his tennis ball. It just seemed like a new tennis ball didn't help at all.
NO! You left because he didn't love you. you have to get over him or your just gunna do nothing your whole life except watch him come down here every weekend

Anna watched the paper boy, who she found out was called Charlie, looking down the beach.
"Isn't that someone over there?" he asked. She looked at the person staring up at the sky.
"I KNEW IT!"she squealed "I KNEW EMMA CAME TO THE BEACH ON THE WEEKENDS!"
"You know this person?"
"Yeah she used to.....well its a long story...But basically she used to live with us in the house."
"Why'd she leave?"
"hats the long part!" she smiled. "Can we go down to her? But we need to be quiet. When we yelled to her before she ran away."
"No prob." he said. they walked down as quietly as they could. Emma had her eyes closed. She'd fallen asleep, but a light sleep.
"oh no." He said
"What?"
"was she emoish when she was with you?"
"No, I don't think so....why?"
"Look." He pointed out over her arms cuts engraved into her flesh.
"Why would she do this!?"
"Maybe, when she left she left something behind. Something she misses....but doen't think she can see again so her life is kinda pointless to her?"
"I think you nailed it" she whispered.

"Well I never really knew her...so"
"Ok now I'm telling you to come in!" He laughed

They walked in.
"Al, Martin we need to talk to you about Emma."
"1st things 1st. Who is this?"
"Oh this is Charlie the paper boy."
"Ah and how, no offense, does this call for bringing him here?" Al asked. Charlie looked down again
"I told you I shoulda just left"
"NO! Stay here! Look Al when we went to the beach-"
"You went to the beach?"
"Can I have no interuptions!"
"Sorry"
"We went down to the beach and found Emma there asleep-"
"At 6.30 am on the beach? Emma? So she must be near then!" Anna looked at Al. "Sorry mouth closed"
"And we found she had cuts along her arms."
"and?"
"God Al! CUTS ON HER ARMS! She was never anything towards emo when she lived here!"
"Wait. Emo?" Martin asked
"Emo. Emotionally unstable. Means that like she cuts herself, hates life ect. emo"
"why would she turn emo after leaving? and only four months!" Al said.
"Real slow aren't you? She misses Irwin!"
"But she left him."
"So she can't miss him? Can't wish she hadn't left? Can't think that now Ivy and Irwin will be together? Can't be upset that Irwin's probably moved on?"
"Thats a lot of things to be upset about."
"Hence emo"

Martin sat back confused at the concept of emoness.
"So whats a chav?"
The gathering groaned. But plannes needed to be made, they were so happy to have finnaly found Emma, what would Irwin say about it?
"Speak of the devil!" Al grinned as Irwin walked in.
"Who the heck are you?" Irwin looked at Charlie, who currently felt like a weed in a feild of...not...weeds...
out of place by any means.
"He's Charlie, Charlie this is Irwin." Al interviened
Charlie shyly nodded his head.
"Not that its important right now anyhoo, Irwin you'd never guesse who me and Charlie spotted on the beach!" Anna wasnt sure whether the news was good or bad.
"You were on the beach? What were you doing there?" Irwin gave Charlie a funny look. Honestly, Grown ups - theyre all alike!
"Whos this then?" Becky smiled as she walked into the room
Anna slapped her forhead,
"Look! This is really really important Irwin! We saw Emma!"
"Wh...what?" Irwins face broke into a smile, "you mean she's here?"
"well, on the beach."
Irwin grabbed his coat and ran out the door as fast as he could. The room had an awkward but slightly exighted silence as the door slammed behind him.
"So Charlie," Martin scratched his chin "Are you emo, or are you chav?"
Charlie most nearly died... but luckly not litterally... yet.

Irwin wasn’t sure why he grabbed his coat, he was only disappearing over the road. In fact, why was he running away so quickly, did the thought of seeing Emma again really upset him that much.
It had been almost 5 months, and he was enjoying having a family, his own family.
“Ivy?”
“I’m in the kitchen, we’re making cookies”
”Want one daddy?”
“Chocolate chips?”
“With Iscream and choclit sauce”
“Of course!”
He goes into the kitchen, smiles at Rose,
“You need to squish that one a bit more”
“Oh yea, course I do!” Ivy giggles at Rose.
“Daddy’s an espert at cookies” Irwin smiles too.
“Mind if I talk to mummy in the other room sweetie?”
“No daddy, its fine” Ivy follows Irwin out of the room.
“She’s back”
“Really? Is she okay?”
“I don’t know, I didn’t wait around to find out”
“Well the least we can do is see how she is”
“I suppose so.”
“Come on, we’ll finish making this and then we can go and see her”
Irwin looks uneasy, Ivy gives him a hug and a kiss on the cheek
“I’m here for you” Irwin nodded to show he knew.

It was weird hearing adults talk about Chav’s and Emo’s, they didn’t understand the terms at all. All they knew was that the children on Eastenders were Chav’s and that the ones who listened to the scary looking singers on Scuzz we’re Emo’s, or Goths, or Grunger’s… or, no they really didn’t understand it much. Charlie was feeling very uncomfortable with all these people who were much taller then him. He didn’t understand who Anna was related to her, and why she wasn’t living with her parents. Why didn’t he see her at school. He didn’t know her much at all, but he wanted to, that was for sure.
“Why did you tell them about Emma self harming?”
“They would have found out”
“But now they are going to think that she’s attentions seeking, or suicidal. They are going to go and find her and meddle with her life, when it’s probably best she was left out of this mess”
“Why are you such an expert on this” Anna was hurt that Charlie was being so judgemental on her.
“I don’t want to say”
“Well I want to know, please tell me”
“Leave it please, it’s not important”
If Anna was unable to understand why Emma needed to be alone and why she self harmed, she wouldn’t understand why he did. He didn’t want her to know. But Anna was just hurt that he wouldn’t tell her.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that… I don’t know you that much yet, and its not something I’ve told anyone”
“I think we should just drop this then”
Charlie was feeling stupid for ever opening his mouth, but he knew someone had to say it. Now he was just worried that this was the end before the beginning for them. Anna sensed this though and grabbed his hand.
“So, shall we go to the cinemas?”

Charlie got back to the house with Anna. Irwin was in the living room.

Iv'e climbed out of a window before but i jumped down i didn't fall i climbed out the window and hanged on with my arms on the window ledge and just dropped to the ground was only from the second floor .. nothing bad happened :p

I beg to differ :lol: Depends on the force of her falling, and if she was curled up or spread out, not neccesarily her weight. Plus on the way down she could have scratched her arms up, or as she landed, as she could have landed on anything.

My dad has really wound me up. Despite the fact I'm buying my own Hoosiers tickets, he claims it shold be my brother going, 'as he is the fan'. I said I was too, but he said 'no, you're a Mika fan'. It amazes me how he seems to believe I can only like one artist. Grr.

Emma looked down at her arms. She remembered all to clearly falling out of teh window when she'd been thinking about the past.
I need to stop living in teh past or I'm gunna kill myself. she sighed. maybe I should go out with some friends....who am I kidding? I don't have friends! Not real ones... She went outside and walked nowhere in particular.
"hey!" she turned and saw the paper boy.
"uh hey."
"Your Emma aren't you?"
"uh yeah." He looked down.
"Whats that on your arms?"
"oh" She smiled "I was real stupid, I was thinking to hard and didn't notice the window.."

Charlie thought hard. So she wasn't emo. or she was lying but he didn't think she was.

"Well... Er... don't know really. She seemed keen to know about Anna. Maybe you should go and visit her. I saw her leave a hotel..."

They decided eventually decided not all of them should go up to see her. However much Irwin protested, they said if anything seeing him would probably put her off talking to them. Instead, they decided Becky and Anna should go, as she knew those girls best. The three band members had started muttering about women drivers, and told them to be careful with the car.
"Says the guy who crashed and almost got us killed." Anna rolled her eyes.

They reached the coast at around 7pm. It wasn't difficult to find the right hotel which Charile had told them; infact, it was the biggest building there.
They wandered in, expecting to see Emma at the front desk.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The lady behind the counter asked.
"Is Emma here?" Anna asked.
"'Fraid not. She won't be here until tomorrow morning. Anything else?" Becky glaced at Anna.
"One moment." Becky smiled politely. She walked Anna over to the chairs in the foyer.
"Do you think we should stay here overnight? That way we can't miss her."
"I don't care." Anna shrugged. "But what about the others?"
"Don't worry. I'll call them and explain." Becky smiled. They walked back over to reception.
"Could we book a double room with two single beds please?" Becky smiled at the girl behind reception.
"Sure. May I ask why you want to speak to Emma?" She asked as she typed into the computer. Anna wanted to say 'none of your beeswax' but decided it probably wasn't best.
"We're friends." Anna smiled. "We haven't spoken in a while. Don't metion we're here though; we want it to be a surprise."
They were given a room on the second floor of the hotel. It was a pretty room, with a balcony over-looking the sea.

"Yup. It's a gorgeous view." Anna sighed, thinking of Charlie.

Emma entered the resturant and saw Henry at a table. She walked over and sat down.
"Wow Emma. You look great!" He exclaimed.
"You look good to." She said feeling slightly nervous. She hadn't been on a date since...anyway. She noticed he was quite good looking. Not in the same league as....She cursed. Couldn't she ever get through a simple conversation without thinking of him?
"What?" he asked
"oh I left my.....purse" She lied quickly.
"No problem." They had very interesting conversations including what you would grab if you had a fire (Emma was her CD collection. Henry was his notepad with all his stories and songs he'd written) If you knew you would die what you would do the day before (Emma was pray in case there was a God. Henry was do his laundry) Eventually they got onto Band member you'd go out with.
"Which band member would you go out with?"
"Ricky Wilson. Except when he has the beard."
"Really?" he said suprised "I thought you'd be one to go out with someone like Irwin Sparkes" Emma had learnt flinching isn't the best idea to hide something so she began to tap her fingers very quickly on her leg under the table
"Nah he's just looks. No dedication or backbone. Who would you go out with?"
"I don't know really...Probably you. Cause I think you technically in the band" She smiled. The bill arrived, Henry paid and they left.
"I better be going now." Emma said "I had a great time"
"me too. Maybe we could do this again sometime?"
"Sounds great!"
She walked off and began to sing under her breath. She shook her head because she'd found herself singing hands down. She thought of someone else and began so sing Collapsed.

Ok this is ridiculous! she ran back to her house (she has a house right?) and ran to her room. She found her CD's and flicked through them. She found at the bottom a CD her uncle had given her. She'd never listened to it since the band used to much screaming in random places. She put it in the CD player and turned it up to full volume and lay down on her bed. It did the job. She forgot about everything troubling her and focused on learning the words by heart. After listening to it for the 7th time she fell asleep. But a dreamless one.

Emma went to work and was careful not to be seen but then....
"Emma!" and someone jumped on her pinning her down.
"get off me!" she yelled.
"ok ok!" Becky got off of Emma but hugged her still clinging in case she ran off. "So Emma how have you been?" Anna asked
"ok" she said nervously
"mmm yes" said Becky not convinced "so why didn't you tell us you were so near?"
"Why do you think?" she retorted angrily
"No why?" said Becky
"So I wouldn't get jumped on an pinned down!" She looked at Becky and Anna "Why have you come here?" she sighed wearily.
"To see how you were, how your getting on. y'know?"
"I'm fine."
"So your getting over Irwin?"
"Yes" she said stiffly
"and I believe you" Anna said sarcasically
"I am I went on a date today." Emma replied
well it was wasn't it? she thought.

"Just tell Irwin to give up ok? I'm not going back to him. He messed up."
He's just like the others. Except I really thought at first....
"We're really not here about Irwin we wanted to see how you were!" They said.

Emma sat at the cafe. Henry was meeting her here.
"hey" he said "I got you this" He handed her a giant teddy.
"thanks" She said. She noticed a girl watching her. She had been watching her for the past week. This time she came over.
"Henry! why have you given this girl MY teddy!?"
"You said you didn't want it any more so I'll give it to this girl!"
"and to think I thought you wanted to be with me!"
"I do! I was just trying to make you jelous."
"What?" Emma yelled "I thought Katie set you up with me!"

"You? come on! Your just so pathetic!" Emma slapped him and ran, crying. She didn't care where she was going. then....SMASH! she hit the brick wall with a sickening crash. Everything went dark. (:D)

She woke up with a man crouching over her.
"what? who are you?" The man looked suprised.
"I'm Mark I work with you at the hotel."
""what hotel? what am I doing here?"
"You must have hit your head pretty hard"
"what?"
"You were running from some guy crying and you hit the wall.."
"I can't remember anything...." She slumped against the wall.
"ok I'll try and refresh your memory. Your Name's Emma. You work at a hotel by the beach. A while back you fell out a window. Anything coming back"
"some" she said rubbing her head "I remember......falling out the window. I can't remember why though. And I remember being at a house. With some people.....but I can't remember their names or what they look like...."
"We better get you back to the hotel. You'll be fine really"

Irwin was thinking in the garden. He wanted, no matter what they said about it,to see Emma. He got up he was going to the hotel to see her, whatever she said.
At the hotel Irwin went up to the desk.
"Emma?"
"Do I know you?" she asked.
"What of course you know me! I caused you all sorts of....well never mind."
"well what can I help you with?"
"I want to talk to you."
"Why I barely know you"
"You've known me for over a year!" Mark walked up to him.
"uh. Why doesn't she remember me?"
"Oh you don't know? she was at a cafe with some guy. on a date i think then some girl came up to him and said some stuff. then Emma him and ran off crying and she hit a brick wall and can't remember much. But she's learning try telling her your name.."
"Hey Emma. Its me Irwin Sparkes. Remember me? You were in a band with me."
"I......I remember you." He sighed knowing what was coming next. something along the lines of 'leave me alone already!' "yeah and you asked me to join you band.....was there anything else. I cna't remember anything else.."
"Maybe we should go for a walk. It may refresh your memory."

They arrived at the house.
"yeah...I remember this. I stayed here for some time"
"thats right" Irwin debated whether this was teh chance to start anew or if he should just leave her like she wanted.
"Hey Irwin" Al said though his cake. then he spat it out. "EMMA!?"
"uh....yeah. You are?"
"Whats she on about? He whispered to Irwin.
"Long story. basically she's got amnesia and can't remember much. I'm trying to refresh her memories." he said in a louder voice "Emma this is Al. remember? in the band?"
"Yeah......I REMEMBER! you liked Clover didn't you?"
"yup thats me!"
They went into the living room where Martin, Anna and Becky were.
"EMMA!?" they yelled at teh sametime.
"Why does everyone keep saying that?" she asked Irwin.
"I'll explain later. This is Becky, Martin, from the band and Anna"
"one second.......yeah! You" she pointed to Becky "Liked Martin but you guys got in a fight so you left and got pregnant....but it was sorted out...wasn't it?" Becky laughed.
"It was" and she kissed Martin. He smiled.
"and you..." she pointed to Anna "were kidnaped. but we got you back"
"well that seems to be sorted. I'll show you round again"

"and this was your depression room.....why did you need a...I REMEMBER! You liked me but I wouldn't admit that I liked you...so you hid here when it got to you..." and she kissed Irwin. He wanted it to go on but he broke away.
"I see you don't remember afterwards. OK Emma. Remember that time I promised I would never hurt you?"
"yeah"
"Well you've forgotten but I mucked it up.....You told me I should have just told you. So I will"
"What?"
"OK about 4 years ago, I went out with a girl called Ivy. I got her pregnant and we got married. But I realised, we weren't really right for each other. I wanted a divorce, but she wouldn't accept. One day she came round and you knew something was up. So eventually you got the whole story out of me. You thought I didn't love you and that I loved her. Then I tried to explain but you took it the wrong way and ran off. I didn't know where you went but I think you still watched me. So I've told you like you wanted." Emma kissed him again.
"I can't believe I would run off from you because of that." Irwin was confused.
"But you did." Emma held him tight.
"Thanks for telling me. Now I know. And you said I wanted you to have told me.."
"i can't believe this."
"i don't see why not"
"Because you were so angry last time I told you"
"Maybe thats cause you told me to late in out relationship. For me its the start still" She grabbed his hand and dragged him downstairs.

"Aww, I see your back together." Becky smiled as they walked in. Irwin smiled while Emma nodded enthusiastically. Rose, who was round to drop off her 'speshal' cookies, ran up to Irwin and Emma and looked strangely at Emma, who was holding her daddy's hand. Irwin let go of her hand and bent down so he was near Rose's height.
"Rosie, this is daddy's close friend, Emma. Do you like her?" Rose thought for a moment.
"Want a cookie?" She asked Emma. Emma smiled and nodded. Rose ran off to get her one.
"Like it, and she'll like you." Irwin whispered. Rose came back, with the chocolate chips melting on her hands. She handed it to Emma.
"Thankyou." Emma took a bite. There was something not quite right about them but she smiled all the same. "Mm! I love them. Did you make them?"
"Yes. With mummy."
"Well you're a very good cook." Rose went to Irwin, who picked her up. She whispered something in his ear.
"Really? That's good. I think she likes you too." Irwin whispered back, just loud enough for everyone else to here. She hugged him, wiping the chocolate from the cookies on his t-shirt. Ivy got up and took her off him.
"Let's get all this chocolate off your hands."
"That was a good start. Now once she warms to you, we can explain things to her a little better. But I don't want the relationship to go too fast because of her, okay?" Irwin explained. Emma just nodded, happy that he cared for Rose that much. She didn't want to be a burden to their father-daughter relationship.
The weeks passed and everything seemed to be going well. Rose was slowly warming to Emma, while she and Irwin got closer. It wasn't until Rose came home from school, sobbing her heart out, that things started going downhill again.
"Whats wrong with her?" Irwin asked, as she cried into her mum's shoulder.
"I don't know. She won't tell me. I said something about her shoes and she hasn't stopped since. Everytime I ask, she ignores me." Ivy said desparately, hating to see her daughter like this. It was breaking her heart.
"Haven't you got a clue what's wrong?" Irwin asked.
"Other than crying, she won't say anything." Ivy replied. Rose began to calm down, still breathing heavily.
"Hey honey. What's wrong, eh?" Irwin asked. She refused to answer. "Maybe she needs some sleep."
"Mm. I'll take her home and let her sleep... But it has to be something to do with school."
